9 Ways To Try New Things

Curiosity is one of the great secrets of happiness.

I believe our life is better when we are curious. We get to try new things and follow new opportunities. Being curious allows us to be more interesting. It opens the door to exciting adventures and enriches what might otherwise be an uneventful day.

While out wandering, I have found these nine ways to bring more curiosity to life very helpful.

Don't Fear Failure

When we fall short of achieving a goal, we may often become self-critical. It’s difficult then to let go of negativity, which can be a severe drain on continued motivation.

Be Sure To Talk To Strangers

We are innately social creatures, made happier and healthier when connected to others. In contrast, living separately and feeling alone, a stress factor that creates other health risks that compare to smoking and obesity exists.

Be Willing To Change

Gandhi said it best. If we want to change an outcome, sometimes we have to change first. That might mean changing the way we think or feel about something or a physical change. Take some time to go withing to determine the best course of action.

Design A Personal Purpose Declaration

Businesses write mission statements, and so should we. In fact, this exercise could be just what you need to determine your goals and find the motive to achieve them.

Be Perfectly Imperfect

Trying to be perfect is hard, and the burden of trying to be is exhausting. Moreover, it also can lead to chronic stress, anxiety and depression. We are more exciting and relatable when we allow ourselves imperfections. And, in the end, perfect doesn’t exist.

Love You First

Self-love is about owning our actions. It’s up to us to choose how we show up in this world.

Self-love is all about recognizing your needs, then making them a priority in your life. Selflove is taking care of you first. Flight attendants always instruct us to put our oxygen masks on before helping others with theirs. That’s because we can’t help others if we aren’t able to breathe ourselves.

Self-love is knowing that happiness doesn’t come from your surroundings. Only you can determine your bliss, and your joy comes from an inner state of well-being.

Be In The Moment

Being in the moment is also called being mindful. It’s considered an active, deliberate attention on what is happening right in front of us. By becoming more aware, we realize we are not our thoughts, only observers of our thoughts. We witness them as they come and then go without judgment or labels.

Travel Solo

Travel makes us better, smarter and even kinder to others. But solo travel brings a sense of empowerment to life! If it seems intimidating, trust me, once you take the plunge and let go of fear and judgment, you will have the time of your life! Traveling solo may even inspire you to take on other things you’ve been afraid to do.

Live Life With A Neverending Sense Of Curiosity

Living life this way is only available when we let go of expectations and assumptions. It’s essential to have an open mind to suggestions and options.

Take a mental break during the day by allowing your mind to wander. Explore something that isn’t familiar. Ask, “What if.” Look up and notice what’s around you. Follow your passions – wherever they might take you.

In The End

In the end, adjust and be content even if you never find the answer, the destination or pot of gold. The resounding fundamental idea is to keep searching and stay curious.  It’s our journey that’s important.
