Kirsti Out Wandering

Disclosure Statement

At Kirsti Out Wandering, my goal is to help readers find their next adventure. My reputation as a place to find quality gear and places to explore is essential and helps us navigate what I recommend to my readers. Part of how I do that is suggesting equipment, areas to explore, places to visit and more. Below, you can find more information on my editorial process, including how I pick products and regions and how I may be compensated through this content.

Editorial Process

My primary purpose as a content-driven platform is to find the best solutions for our readers. That may be finding the best places to hike, camp or backpack in a state or park, or it may be recommending some of the best gear related to those activities.

In any case, I’m committed to helpful, reliable and practical information above all else. Solving my readers’ problems and challenges is my top priority, and I firmly believe that all else falls into place if I do that the right way.

I do my best to keep stories updated with connections to labels, parks and government sites that provide additional helpful information.

In the case of hiking, camping and backpacking stories, I write about places I’ve personally explored and guarantee their beauty. I write about experiences with the types of merchandise evaluated and personally field-test the gear. Every story I publish has hours of research, writing and editing in it.

Affiliate Links & Recommendations

In many of my articles, especially those that are equipment based, I may earn a small percentage when readers purchase products through the provided links, but that doesn’t affect which products are included in my blog articles. The products chosen are recommended for their quality, performance and overall reliability despite affiliate relationships.

I attempt to promote products that best fit most audiences and usually categorize our top picks as:

  • Wanderer’s Choice: the best overall pick based on performance and feedback
  • Upgraded Choice: where it makes sense to spend more money
  • Best Value: equipment offering the most value for your dollar

The commissions I make from these articles allow me to put as much time and energy into each story’s research and vetting. All brands and products that pay for advertisement on the site are considered “Sponsored Collaborators.”

Amazon Associates & Other Programs

As an Amazon Associate, Kirsti Out Wandering may earn commissions from qualifying purchases from Amazon.com. I will partner with other sites in the future.
