Hello, Moon. How Travel Changes Our Perspective

Travel offers everyone the opportunity to experience life in all its forms. There is no doubt about that. I believe the moon is both a metaphor and something literal in Mary Anne Radmacher’s quote, “I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.”

Experiencing new things, particularly when we travel to another country, will challenge our way of thinking and, more importantly, how we perceive others from a distance.

There is no doubt that travel can change one’s life. This beautiful quote captures the essence of that fact. There is nothing like it in a book or in a classroom. We’ll be left speechless initially, but we’ll become a great storyteller by the end of our travels. Many aspects of our life will also benefit from the confidence it will give us.

How To Embrace Life with Beginner’s Mind

Of all the inventions of mankind, none is as powerful as travel. And there is no substitute for direct experience when it comes to adventure. There is no doubt that this can change one’s life.

Our dreams will become more vivid and vibrant after our eyes are opened to them. The world is full of such things. Initially, we’ll be left speechless, but we’ll become a great storyteller by the end. Many aspects of our life will benefit from the confidence it will give us.

Every time I see the moon, I greet her. The moon, however, appeared to me differently after I immersed myself in the culture of Costa Rica over a couple of weeks. When I said “Hello Moon” there, I felt I was seeing her with new eyes.

Mary Anne Radmacher Quote "I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world."

The more we travel, the more we sense a change in our beliefs by the end, too! We will discover new freedom and confidence once we explore the world around us.

We’ll find ourselves experimenting and stepping outside our comfort zone more often because we know the rewards are worth it. Our senses become heightened as we see more awareness of the world around us. Everything will seem more vibrant and full of life.

But travel can also be challenging. It can push us to our limits and test our patience. It can be unpredictable and chaotic, leaving us feeling vulnerable and lost. But that’s also what makes it so exhilarating. When we travel, we’re forced to confront ourselves and our fears, and we’re forced to find a way to navigate through the unknown.

This quote challenges us to leave our comfort zone and experience something new today – in our neighborhood, city or on that trip to wherever we’ve been dreaming of.

Cheers to your next adventure. Let me know where you are going in the comments below.

xo, Kirsti
