After stormy conditions (both literally and figuratively) during the weeks prior, upon arriving, I also had a breakdown in spirit, deciding to delay the next leg of the Radical Sabbatical for another time.

Prequel
Taking a much-needed rest from the road, it would be here, along Santa Rosa Island and the Gulf Islands National Seashore, I would recuperate and recover, basking in the quiet calm arms of the sea.

What Gets In The Way
The great cold-weather bomb halted a first return trip attempt in January of 2020. Upper Florida was so cold that it even froze Iguanas making them fall out of trees. I tried again in late October 2020, only to be thwarted by the local destruction of hurricane Sally and Zeta.
Now, in November of 2021, I tried again and was victorious! After arriving, I found the allure of the Gulf Islands National Seashore continues for me – beautiful, peaceful and perfect.

This Special Place
The warm emerald-green waters and white sandy beaches move me so intensely – returning to this seashore will remain on my wander-list forever.
