The First Step

As you start to walk on the way, the way appears. (Rumi)

What is your deepest dream? Are you ready to pursue what you want? The first step is often the most challenging step to achieving a goal, and there will always be many psychological barriers that can make it challenging to get started, too.

The following are suggestions to help you overcome inner doubts and take that essential first step.

Even if the circumstances aren't perfect, don't wait.

It would be best if you didn’t wait until the conditions are ideal because they will likely never be good enough, and something will always surface that makes you doubt your decision.

If you think something is right, don't wait until others agree.

Opposition is a normal part of life. In the same way that you shouldn’t wait for the perfect situation, you shouldn’t wait until everyone agrees with your idea. You will never begin if you wait for their approval.

Even if your skills are borderline, start now anyway.

Before we start doing something, we may think we need excellent skills. In reality, doing is a better way to learn than waiting. Practicing your craft allows you to hone it faster than learning theory alone.

Louisa May Alcott said, “We all have our own life to pursue, our own kind of dream to be weaving. And we all have some power to make wishes come true, as long as we keep believing.”

Taking the first step is not an easy one. Here are a few more ideas you can do to make it successful:

Believe

People who believe their dreams can come true are more likely to achieve them. The main reason is that they are constantly seeking ways to fulfill it. Believing in your dreams gives you more energy and courage to achieve them.

Only those who try something in the first place will know if something will succeed. When you see a possibility, jump at it seeing where it leads – that’s where realizing the dream starts!

Visualize

Imagine how your world will look when your dream comes to fruition – even the smallest of details.

By doing this, not only will your mind and heart know where you want to go by holding this vision, the energy and excitement will be there for you to feel each time you return, spurring you on.

Be Open

While never impossible, realizing your dream may not always be easy. Being open to what is from the beginning will simplify your journey. In this way, you won’t lose heart if you encounter obstacles. In fact, you might encounter happy encounters that bring new experiences.

Go!

Your dream may be ambitious (and it should be!), making it seem overwhelming. Take small, manageable steps toward your goal. Think about the end, the final results, and then chunk them back, deciding what you can do today, tomorrow, and the next day until you arrive at your goal.

To sum this post up:

Don’t wait! I believe right now is the best time to start pursuing your dreams because ‘someday’ isn’t a day in the week. Minutes become hours; hours become days, etc.

We don’t know how long we have on earth, and everything can change quickly, so we should enjoy every moment.

Far too many people live in circles, wondering what to do next or whether they even have a chance of achieving what they want. When it comes to life, following your dreams plays a crucial role.

Please make the most of what life offers instead of spending half of it doing something that doesn’t light you up.
