Spring Flowers & Photography

“If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly our whole life would change.”– Buddha

Spring Flower Photo Extravaganza!

From new growth through maturity, flowers are lovely subjects to photograph. They come in a wide variety of shapes, colors, sizes and textures. Through their development, I believe they offer a sense of hope as well.

I’ve found flowers also provide excellent opportunities to capture and make unique photos. And, as we move into Spring, they will be easy to find. It’s their ease of accessibility that makes them a standard photography subject to come across online or in photo forums.

While it’s easy to snap a flower photograph, I’d suggest putting some creative thought into factors like lighting, scene and composition. Doing this will result in some spectacular images.

In this post, I share some of the photos from my flower collection. Beauty, of course, is in the eye of the beholder; still, I believe these photos go beyond the usual snapshot and hope they inspire you to step out of your photo comfort zone, seeing then creating something different on your next photography outing.

Macro photography – discover a whole new miniature world with virtually endless possibilities

Flower photography is like being in another world

I even find beauty in dandelions.

Flowers can also help tell a story. This photo, taken in Washington, D.C. along the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, uses the sunflower, whose meaning is that of loyalty and happiness, holding it against the names of lost souls, brings an underlying sense of respect and love to the photo.

This stuff is amazing!

Every since I was a child. I’ve been facinated with fast motion movies.  The ones of nature growing and then dying are my favorites.

Take a moment to watch this beautiful time-lapse video produced by National Geographic.
